Perfume – the story of a murderer

Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, born with a superior olfactory sense, creates the world’s finest perfume. His work, however, takes a dark turn as he searches for the ultimate scent.

The movie is based on a novel by Bavarian writer Patrick Süskind, in 1985 bestseller it was the best seller. The author refused to sell the rights for 15 years, adamant that his book’s main theme, smell, could not work in a visual medium. He had a point, but Run Lola Run helmer Tom Tykwer has proven Süskind wrong.
I assure you that the smells on the screen will take you to a different world, you will feel you ate there inside the screen.Grenouille’s (Ben Whishaw) harrowing birth — in which he’s spat out of his mother’s womb and left to die, twitching, in a pile of rotting piscine entrails under the counter of her fish-market stall — would be even more gut-churning than it already is. He became alone in the world and he gets brought up by a lady who rents childs for work.

Grenouille is a tricky character: you can take him as the villain or hero. You have to take this decision during the movie. The minutes of the movie processess with a terrible truth that Grenouille kills beautiful womens to make perfume with their nails and hair. In the hands of 26 year-old English actor Ben Whishaw, he’s a near-autistic bundle of constrained twitches, a man gifted with a superhuman talent but cursed by an inability to exploit it constructively.
Grenouille is soulless just as he is scentless. He’s barely human, a shade almost, emotionless and cold. At last he is caught by government but when people take him to hang, he mixes his perfume in a towel and waves on air. All citizens fell in that magical smell and they joins each other in sex. They considerd as an angel.

But Grenouille came to know that whatever he did was wrong, that he killed many womens for his perfume. He understands the value of romance, love. He feel sad and poured all the perfume on his body, while surrounded by dirty street peoples. And they gets attracted by the perfume and attacks him for that. After the night the street become empty and he was no more. The last drop falls down from the perfume bottle which lies on ground!
