Leonardo diccaprio’s The shutter island

“Shutter Island” is just like the doomy musical notes of the paramount pictures logo which displays just before the movie starts. Martin Scorsese, he is the legendary director of this island. Even horror movies can’t make us scared like this, but this is not horror but a psycho thriller which keeps all the suspense till the end. The background score played a beautiful role just like the other actors.
The story happens in 1954 with the first scene were U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his partner Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo) are reaching an island in an almost empty ship. We call this place shutter island. The music, rocks near the island and the gloomy sea which fills some strange feelings in our heart. This is a remote and craggy island off Boston, where a Civil War-era fort has been adapted as a prison for the criminally insane. The purpose of their visit is as they are assigned to investigate the disappearance of a child murderer (Emily Mortimer).
There seems to be no way to leave the island alive. The situation is like the prison officers doesn’t need the presence of Marshals to investigate the disappearance of the the woman. Prison medical director, Dr. Cawley, played by Ben Kingsley did his job in a fantastic way.Teddy gets confused that what to do, slowly the things around him shows that the management makes people mad and they never allow people to escape from the island.
Flashbacks suggest Teddy’s traumas in the decade since World War II. That war, its prologue and aftermath, supplied the dark undercurrent of classic film noir. The term “post-traumatic shock syndrome” was not then in use, but its symptoms could be seen in men attempting to look confident in their facades of unstyled suits, subdued ties, heavy smoking and fedoras pulled low against the rain. DiCaprio and Ruffalo both affect this look, but DiCaprio makes it seem more like a hopeful disguise.Everything is brought together into a disturbing foreshadow of dreadful secrets.
There are thrilling visuals in “Shutter Island.” Light leaks out of the sky. The wind sounds mournful. It is, as they say, a dark and stormy night. And that’s what the movie is about: atmosphere, ominous portents, the erosion of Teddy’s confidence and even his identity. It’s all done with flawless directorial command. Scorsese has fear to evoke, and he does it with many notes.
The climax leads us to the truth that teddy is the real mad prisoner, and chuck was not his colleague but his doctor. This was all their plan as a part of treatment for teddy.Actually teddys wife drowned their 3 children’s and teddy killed her for this reason. These problems brought teddy to the mental hospital “The Shutter Island “.
Watch this movie before you die.
